A dementia adviser can help people come to terms with a diagnosis and find support. Alzheimers Manawatu has three Dementia Advisors servicing the Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua regions.
- Provide support for all forms of dementia
- Assessment visits
- Support spouses, carers and families/whanau through their journey with this disease
- Provide information and strategies to support individuals
- Crisis advice
Dementia advisors provide assessment, education and support to the all people affected by dementia within the Community.

Monthly Carer Support groups run by Dementia Advisors. Held in Palmerston North, Levin, Dannevirke, Feilding and Otaki. Allows carers opportunities to discuss with each other day to day issues and enables them to support each other.

Memory Cafes are an option for carers/families and loved ones to continue to enjoy the ongoing support of others after their loved one has gone into residential care or passed away. Memory Cafes are run by volunteers at local cafes.

The WanderSearch programme is offered to our communities – this is a location system used to support people living with dementia/autism who are at risk of going missing from their place of residence.

Referrals are required for our day Program that offers people with dementia the opportunity to socially interact with others within a varied and stimulating programme which is managed by trained staff. Programs are currently offered in Palmerston, Levin, Dannevirke and Feilding.
